This seems to be a general problem with networks where users contribute content and the site owner needs to find a balance between providing a stable framework and his ambition to reach top 10 positions on Google on keywords targeted by the users. One of the reasons may be the constraints of the blog farm software where a high degree of standardization through out all participants’ sites is necessary. BuddyPress and Google Can BuddyPress contribute to give individual users higher visibility on Google? Probably yes, considering that BuddyPress will trigger more activity on the individual sites. But there is more: BuddyPress can be set up to show content which n most other social network structures is not publicly visible because hidden behind a login screen which makes content inaccessible by Google and other search engines.
