How to shoot the Moon with a Point and Shoot Camera

May 6, 2012

Vouliagmeni Moon Photo with Point and Shoot Camera Believe it or not, it is possible to shoot the Moon with an average point and shoot camera. In fact, for as long as you dispose of a reasonable optical zoom (300–400 mm equivalent) and the possibility to switch to manual settings, you should be able to catch some details of the surface of the moon. Of course there will be a lack of detail and sharpness, but at least you won’t end up with just a white spot on a black background. As today the Moon is at it’s closest to the earth for this year, I did a test run last night and brought back the following shot: Vouliagmeni Moon May 4, 2012 This is about as good as it could get The above was shot with the following F-stop:                   f/6.3 Exposure time:    1/250 ISO-speed             ISO-400 Focal-length:        49 mm 35-mm focal length:  389 Exposure Program: Aperture Priority The idea was to figure out different settings to catch at least some of the texture of the surface of the moon. New Photoshop CS6 Beta

April 8, 2012

Photoshop CS6 Today let’s have a look at Photoshop CS6 Beta which is available for free download from Adobe. The version is called ‘Superstition’ and it is the first significant update to Photoshop since CS5 ( in the Suite CS5.5 Adobe delivered the same Photoshop as in CS5). Who is Photoshop CS6 for? Having thoroughly tested the new Photoshop CS6 Beta, it seems to me that this version is addressing namely people who are working with digital photos and videos; also the 3D features have been significantly improved. In other words, if you are not using Photoshop to edit your images, needing content aware patching and selective blurring, there is no real need to upgrade your CS5. If however you are a photo freak and if you are shooting short videos, then Photoshop CS6 is a smashing program, allowing you to go beyond what photography can do (such as multiple shallow depth of field areas on a single image). What is new on Photoshop CS6? This is what’s new on Photoshop CS6:     UI redesign (all new icons and optional dark UI) OK, they copied (sorry, got inspired by (big companies don’t copy, huh)) Apple’s Aperture; you can switch back [...] Related posts: 3D Photoshop Exercise Photoshop Ycademy Resizing Pictures in Photoshop Book covers and Jewel Cases with Photoshop Photoshop Borders Ycademy

12 Principles of Animation with After Effects

December 15, 2011

Animation for Beginners with After Effects Since Disney’s hand-drawn animation, nothing has changed when it comes to the basic principles of animation. The success of Disney was not just in the design of Mickey and friends but in the way the characters were put into motion. At Saturday’s Ycademy Seminar we will explain the 12 Principles of Animation and see, how to apply them with After Effects. 1. Slow in — slow out Acceleration and deceleration is created with Easy Ease in and out functions is AE. The effect creates fluid motion. 2. Anticipation Anticipation designs the action leading to the actual movement, like the backwards swing before hitting a ball with a golf club. Anticipation prepares the viewer for the action which will occur. Surprise actions can be more effective without anticipation. 3. Squash and Stretch Squashing and stretching blows life into a volume. The rule is, not to change the volume while designing the effect: a vertical squash goes with a horizontal stretch. 4. Arc Objects tend to move along an arc, rather than along straight lines. In After Effects we animate along a path. 5. Straight Ahead Action vs. Pose to Pose Straight Ahead Action refers to [...] Related posts: Best Auto Parts by GenesBiz Auto Parts Website for WP

Christmas Media Design at Ycademy The Ycademy Seminar in December will focus on Christmas Media, namely on working with Adobe After Effects. In stead of producing static Christmas cards participants will be able to add motion, sound and other effects to produce a stunning customized Christmas Clip. Schedule The Christmas Media Design Seminar will take place on December 17, 201, starting at 1 pm London time and closing at 9 pm London time. Photography: How to take Sunset Photos

August 16, 2011

Original Article at Photography: How to take Sunset Photos. The impact of the number of focus/metering points Zoom and Vertical angle influence Color Range To illustrate yesterday’s training, here are 3 pictures I just shot out of the window with a point and shoot camera: This first example shows that the sun and the warm colors around represent a small amount of the total image size. To get a dark foreground I used centered metering which causes the foreground to be overexposed since the metering is dominantly done on the light areas around the center of the image. Using Zoom to focus on the warm color range around the sun and by lifting the camera we reduce the importance of the fore ground in terms of importance. The foreground is nicely over exposed while we get plenty of the warm gradients. Forget about the foreground, we just zoom in and try to capture the interesting edges of the cloud. Compared to what the eye sees in nature (first picture) we are here entirely in the heart of the warm color range with an over-saturation of orange/reds. The contrasts get harder and we may miss out on some gradients, however such pictures can be spectacular. Super Yacht Octopus

Original Article at Super Yacht Octopus.Paul G.Allen parking his Octopus in Vouliagmeni This morning, Paul G.Allan’s Super Yacht, the Octopus was parked in the nice bay of Vouliagmeni. The Co-Founder of Microsoft obviously knows where the world is best! The 126.18 meter long Yacht looks quite impressive in the bay. Considering that the boat was the largest private Yacht when delivered in 2003 it still looks like the real thing ranking number 12. As you can see, there is only one of the two helicopters on board as I take the picture. The Yacht is equipped with it’s own submarine, a cinema, recording studio and about everything an average dude needs to live quietly and nicely off the hassle of these day’s financial markets. Original Article at How to reach Google Top 10 with Images.Google Top 10 with Photos on XO for WordPress Last night, the participants of the Image Editing and Publishing  Seminar by Ycademy, have demonstrated with a live test, how a well published digital photo can reach Google Top 10 on the general as well as on the image search engine. Semiomantics XO takes your Images to Google Top 10 Semiomantics XO is in my opinion the best publishing framework for WordPress. XO powered websites reach high visibility and perform extremely well on search engines namely on Google. Since the release of XO 2011, pre-configured custom post formats are available, namely for media publishing. Here below the screenshots of the top 30 on Google   Page 2:   Page 3: Search returns on Google The search term: Publishing Digital Photos on WordPress returns over 19 million results. Before our publication, WordPress and related sites were on top. As you can see from the above shots, all top 30 positions have been grabbed by seminar participants’ author blogs or related websites. The above is also a nice demonstration of the power of the YORGOO Publishing Model as presented a few years ago and revised recently. How to Publish Digital Photos

Original Article at How to Publish Digital Photos.Digital Photography and WordPress “How to Edit and Publish Digital Photos” is the focus of the Ycademy Online Seminar in July. 1. How to Edit Digital Photos Taking photos has become a relatively easy and cheap task with the proliferation of accessible digital cameras and mobile devices, such as smart-phones and tablets. Of course the quality of the pictures varies in function of the quality of the camera and the skill of the photographer. Some of the shortcomings can be compensated by improving skills and post editing. The Seminar will deal with editing digital photos using namely Photoshop and OnOne Professional Photo Tools. … after some basic editing … … for web and devices with reduced JPEG quality. Editingand post editing have a lot to do with the purpose of the image as well as on the destination platform. We will look into different options and detail specific requirements for the mobile web. OnOne Professional Photo Editing Tools The above sample shows that editing makes the image heavier! The more filters, masks and brushes we apply the more Kb we ad and the slower the image will load once on the site. Here it is getting interesting: the above image counts [...] Copyright © Yorgo Nestoridis - Original Article at How to Publish Digital Photos. Or how to track your stolen content? Tags or Content You have the possibility to either add a specific tag to all of your posts and track that tag or you could add to each post a particular word or phrase which only exists on your creations. The idea is good, however you don’t want to mess up your content on your site with a meaningless code or phrase and you don’t want to define a a code which is easy to detect and to remove. Digital Fingerprint is a solution A Digital Fingerprint is a secret unique insert into your posts. There are very sophisticated systems to implement and to track such fingerprints but to keep it simple: we can just add a secret phrase to our feeds and have them printed out on the receiving end. Google and other Search tools will then track the expression for us. Here is an example: I will add a Digital Fingerprint to this post and then track it.
