Vouliagmeni Moon Photo with Point and Shoot Camera Believe it or not, it is possible to shoot the Moon with an average point and shoot camera. In fact, for as long as you dispose of a reasonable optical zoom (300–400 mm equivalent) and the possibility to switch to manual settings, you should be able to catch some details of the surface of the moon. Of course there will be a lack of detail and sharpness, but at least you won’t end up with just a white spot on a black background. As today the Moon is at it’s closest to the earth for this year, I did a test run last night and brought back the following shot: Vouliagmeni Moon May 4, 2012 This is about as good as it could get The above was shot with the following F-stop: f/6.3 Exposure time: 1/250 ISO-speed ISO-400 Focal-length: 49 mm 35-mm focal length: 389 Exposure Program: Aperture Priority The idea was to figure out different settings to catch at least some of the texture of the surface of the moon. The idea was to come back with some photos of outstanding works from the permanent exhibition. Interactive Science and Technology Exhibition Eugenides Foundation Physics Experiment Collections and Technical Exhibits The Eugenides Foundation’s Physics Experiment Collections and the Technical Exhibit Halls were created in 1966 and operated at the Foundation facilities on Syngrou Avenue until the mid-1990s. Their goal was to fill the gaps in experimental equipment at the institutions of technical education in post-war Greece and to more adequately carry out the essential educational function in the technical and scientific fields. Two new wings were added to the Foundation in September 2003; one of them houses the New Digital Planetarium and the other, in a section of the building symmetrical to the Planetarium, houses a unique exhibition hall, the “Marianthi Simou” Interactive Science and Technology Exhibition Hall. The Children’s Hospital in Athens Living in the greater Athens area bears some refreshing surprises. This past week-end I became acquainted with Greek Hospital Standards as we had to leave YorgoMan (12) at the Athens Children’s Hospital to fix his wrecked up neck. But let’s start from scratch. Vouliagmeni is about 25 kilometers south of Athens, but part of the greater Athens Metropolitan Area. There are plenty of hospitals in our area and communities nearby, but when a child needs hospital treatments, there is only one unique place for the 5 Million people of Athens and beyond: the Children’s Hospital north of the center of Athens. Even if you bring your kid to another institution for emergency treatments, they refuse treatment and you are sent to that one only central hospital which in the best of the cases is 45 minutes away. With normal traffic it takes you an hour and when there is the typical Athens Traffic mess, you better take some snacks along. Original Article at Super Yacht Octopus.Paul G.Allen parking his Octopus in Vouliagmeni This morning, Paul G.Allan’s Super Yacht, the Octopus was parked in the nice bay of Vouliagmeni. The Co-Founder of Microsoft obviously knows where the world is best! The 126.18 meter long Yacht looks quite impressive in the bay. Considering that the boat was the largest private Yacht when delivered in 2003 it still looks like the real thing ranking number 12. As you can see, there is only one of the two helicopters on board as I take the picture. The Yacht is equipped with it’s own submarine, a cinema, recording studio and about everything an average dude needs to live quietly and nicely off the hassle of these day’s financial markets.
