Vouliagmeni Moon Photo with Point and Shoot Camera Believe it or not, it is possible to shoot the Moon with an average point and shoot camera. In fact, for as long as you dispose of a reasonable optical zoom (300–400 mm equivalent) and the possibility to switch to manual settings, you should be able to catch some details of the surface of the moon. Of course there will be a lack of detail and sharpness, but at least you won’t end up with just a white spot on a black background. As today the Moon is at it’s closest to the earth for this year, I did a test run last night and brought back the following shot: Vouliagmeni Moon May 4, 2012 This is about as good as it could get The above was shot with the following F-stop: f/6.3 Exposure time: 1/250 ISO-speed ISO-400 Focal-length: 49 mm 35-mm focal length: 389 Exposure Program: Aperture Priority The idea was to figure out different settings to catch at least some of the texture of the surface of the moon. Some 5000 people who obviously could not afford to go for the usual holiday break during the week-end of August 15 were hanging out in the Vouliagmeni bay with a direct view on the Super Yacht Octopus belonging to Paul Allen. Imagine the people here on the foreground being some 20 meters away from my camera while the yacht is about half a mile off the coast! With its over 126 meters its the 12th largest private yacht worldwide. Bad Microsoft Image Imagine now, 5000 people having paid some 150 Euros for their Windows in bankrupt Greece having the beautiful view polluted by Microsoft Co-Founders Yacht a whole Sunday in the immaculate bay of Vouliagmeni! 5000 people paying 150 Euros, thats 750 000 Euros or about 1 Million of Dollars contributing to Paul’s 200 Million Dollar Yacht. Back in 2003, when the Super Yacht Octopus was delivered, people had already bought Windows 95, 98, Millennium, 2000 and just started upgrading to Windows XP .… not to speak about Office! Original Article at Super Yacht Octopus.Paul G.Allen parking his Octopus in Vouliagmeni This morning, Paul G.Allan’s Super Yacht, the Octopus was parked in the nice bay of Vouliagmeni. The Co-Founder of Microsoft obviously knows where the world is best! The 126.18 meter long Yacht looks quite impressive in the bay. Considering that the boat was the largest private Yacht when delivered in 2003 it still looks like the real thing ranking number 12. As you can see, there is only one of the two helicopters on board as I take the picture. The Yacht is equipped with it’s own submarine, a cinema, recording studio and about everything an average dude needs to live quietly and nicely off the hassle of these day’s financial markets.
