How to build a Local Website Go Local is the name of the game in 2011/12 and the success of bringing the global web developments back home is a trend of the time. First it was about tagging people, now we tag locations, be it on social networks such as Facebook or on Photo sites, such as Picasa or Flickr. Based on the fact that surfers search for and prefer local business to cross border transactions, social networks namely have built in the local tags and stimulate users to hook media and events to geographically tagged locations. How to dominate the local market? In order to dominate the local market, you need to assess the use of the internet your neighbors make; chances are that they mostly hang out on social media, search Google and use email. This is of course an extremely simplified view but it gives an indication about where we need to build high visibility. You also want to have an idea about how people access the net and websites; you will notice an increased use of mobile deices, which means that your content needs to be formatted and optimized  for desktops as well as for tablets [...] Related posts: How to Optimize your Impact on Social and Mobile Networks Facebook Strategy with WordPress Google Top 10 Dominate your Keyword 3 3 Web Design Trends in 2011 New Facebook Pages Publishing Concept

Original Article at How to reach Google Top 10 with Images.Google Top 10 with Photos on XO for WordPress Last night, the participants of the Image Editing and Publishing  Seminar by Ycademy, have demonstrated with a live test, how a well published digital photo can reach Google Top 10 on the general as well as on the image search engine. Semiomantics XO takes your Images to Google Top 10 Semiomantics XO is in my opinion the best publishing framework for WordPress. XO powered websites reach high visibility and perform extremely well on search engines namely on Google. Since the release of XO 2011, pre-configured custom post formats are available, namely for media publishing. Here below the screenshots of the top 30 on Google   Page 2:   Page 3: Search returns on Google The search term: Publishing Digital Photos on WordPress returns over 19 million results. Before our publication, WordPress and related sites were on top. As you can see from the above shots, all top 30 positions have been grabbed by seminar participants’ author blogs or related websites. The above is also a nice demonstration of the power of the YORGOO Publishing Model as presented a few years ago and revised recently. Original Article at How to Publish Digital Photos.Digital Photography and WordPress “How to Edit and Publish Digital Photos” is the focus of the Ycademy Online Seminar in July. 1. How to Edit Digital Photos Taking photos has become a relatively easy and cheap task with the proliferation of accessible digital cameras and mobile devices, such as smart-phones and tablets. Of course the quality of the pictures varies in function of the quality of the camera and the skill of the photographer. Some of the shortcomings can be compensated by improving skills and post editing. The Seminar will deal with editing digital photos using namely Photoshop and OnOne Professional Photo Tools. … after some basic editing … … for web and devices with reduced JPEG quality. Editingand post editing have a lot to do with the purpose of the image as well as on the destination platform. We will look into different options and detail specific requirements for the mobile web. OnOne Professional Photo Editing Tools The above sample shows that editing makes the image heavier! The more filters, masks and brushes we apply the more Kb we ad and the slower the image will load once on the site. Here it is getting interesting: the above image counts [...] Copyright © Yorgo Nestoridis - Original Article at How to Publish Digital Photos. Original Article at Website Design.Your Look and Feel make the Difference The look of your website is the first impression visitors get about you, your business, your attitude and your professionalism. Surfing the web we notice that hype sites have a different look than professional well founded content sites. Online Casinos look differently than wellness sites and Government sites look different from personal blogs. The presentation is a question of your personal preferences or also of your professional choice. Ego Centered Websites Ego centered web sites are designed based on personal preferences, such as a personal blog. Ego centered blogs are in first line here to please the creator. The approach can be without compromise and highlight mainly content of personal interest. Visitor Centered Websites Customer or Visitor Centered web sites are built with a purpose to communicate with a targeted audience. The look is an important element of communication, namely when it comes to the first impression and the immediate empathy that can be built or blocked. First things first: first comes the over all look and impression, then the content. The content can be split into the sites substantial content and as the case may be the commercial content (ads). YorgoMan was shouting for weeks as he estimated that his website was outdated. In fact it was not all that bad, but when he saw the new XO and the Evo2, he just screamed for it. Well if this keeps him off Facebook …. The Concept of the YorgoMan site The idea was to build a very visual site (these youngsters don’t like to read and write). His Evo2 is entirely media based with photo, video and music galleries. As the absence of text in the xml files constitutes a handicap for optimization, Evo2 is paired by an XO 2011. Both sites are interlinked whereas on the XO we rotate 3D banners with screen-shots of Evo2 and linking to the corresponding Page on Evo2. From Evo2 a link leads back to the blog. The WordPress Menu from XO points exclusively to the corresponding Evo2 pages; in fact, it’s a copy of the Evo2 menu. In order to multiply a module, you just need to use your copy and paste capabilities :-). The above image illustrates the present YorgoMan site. You can see the menu entries representing multiple times the gallery module. This means we have created multiple (4 additional) photo galleries. Here are the photo albums: Sun and Sea (this one is the original gallery with the images.xml) Basketball Friends Holidays I me and myself In order to make these albums work, you need to create for each album an image folder. The easiest is to create image folders under evo2/images  with the name of the album, such as basketball, friends ……. Second, you create xml files for each menu item: basketball.xml, friends.xml,… which you put into the folder evo2/xml. To make life easier, just copy and paste the content of images.xml and adapt accordingly. Finally you need to make sure that your menu [...]Related posts:Evo2 Menu TutorialEvo 2 Home Page TutorialElegant Web Design Evo2How to build your Evo2Elegant Evo2 Web Design

For this reason we will publish here a step by step guide about how to realize an Evo2 project. The Evo2 Tutorial or Guide There will be a tutorial per module used to realize a simple project. In order to follow the Guide you will need to have access to an Evo2 script as well as to a tool to re-size and crop images. Finally you will need to dispose of some media, images and eventually videos. We recommend to use Photoshop where available or Pain which is a free tool coming with Windows. The Project For the purpose of this tutorial we will implement a simple project called YorgoMan 2010, which will highlight YorgoMan’s year. In as much as I am concerned, I will use Photoshop to edit images, however paint will do as well. The idea was to focus my online activity to develop and to implement a concept allowing home and small business to take advantage of the internet in the same way large corporate do it but at a fraction of the cost. The purpose was to enable anyone to gain high visibility and to be able to put their products at the tip of the mouse of the largest possible number of people at minimal cost.
