For this reason, marketers then promote their lead generation page with yet another page or site or with ads, such as the typical <strong>work from home ads</strong> on Google.</p>

<p>Overlays can be used for most any content. Opt-in forms are just one option. Interesting content are images in large size, media or ads. The overlay can emphasize content or it can deliver content to readers in a highly visible way. The overlay does not require a reloading of the page.</p>

<p>Marketing involving social media requires therefore a good dose of planning and a solid concept.</p>

<p>Social Media allow targeting based on internal search tools. Searching means: you have to know to know your targeted keywords, login, search and then invite people to join your list. It&#8217;s an active push approach.</p>
<p>This approach takes too much time, namely when you are involved in multiple networks.</p>
<p>The second approach would be: be open to anyone who wants to join your list and make yourself available under the search terms corresponding to your goals.</p>
<p>This is a passive, pull approach.</p>
<span id="Screening"><h3>Screening</h3></span>
<p>When targeting actively, we do the screening when typing our keywords and phrases into the search tool; when targeting passively we are available for all those who are searching for the keywords linked to our profile. In this latter case the screening is done without our personal active Â involvement and we don&#8217;t need to have a case by case approach.</p>
<p>Automated screening, where our profile attracts interested people via the internal search engine is my preferred method as it does not require any additional tasks to be added to my daily work load once I have set up my account on a social networks.</p>
<span id="Pipeline"><h3>Pipeline</h3></span>
<p>Once we are available via the search engine, we then have to offer to interested people what they are looking for. To make the pipeline efficient, we need to make sure that we offer the shortest possible link to what people are searching for, and that&#8217;s a link to our web site, blog, online publication outside of the social network.</p>
<span id="Follow-up"><h3>Follow-up</h3></span>
<p>Our website allows readers to comment and subsequently we can follow up on those comments as the case may be. Or we offer an opt-in to our newsletter which allows yet another way to follow up or we just offer a contact form and or a call me button and the communication hooks are thus in place.</p>

<p>For the purpose of this argument let&#8217;s just look at Google Ads and organic top listing on the Google Search Engine.</p>
<p>An Ad placed on Google Search return pages is an easy solution to occupy space on Google Search Return pages; that&#8217;s however not the end of the story: the ad needs to lead to a web page either of yours or of the merchant you promote. Google Ads are paid means to reach visibility. Cost is function of the value of the keyword, the positioning of the ad and of the number of clicks it generates as well as the conversion of views to clicks.</p>
<p>Setting up an ad is easy byÂ  following just the Google Wizard for this purpose. The appropriate keyword search and the market analysis are similar to the elaboration of a web page. So, in fact the task of advertising remains as difficult as to set up a web page, with the difference that you pay fro top positioning while your website may take time to reach top 10 listings or it may even never make it.</p>
<span id="The_incredible_advantage_of_Organic_Listing"><h3>The incredible advantage of Organic Listing</h3></span>
<p>Visibility is a matter of occupying space, the more the better and the space has to be well located, ideally on the first page of Google Search returns. Google search return pages have 10 organic slots on the left side and often 5 to 8 slots on the right side for Google Ads. Without entering into the discussion about which are the best slots on the page, let&#8217;s just look at the basic numbers game.</p>
<p>Assume the Google Search return page generates 1600 clicks per day and assume that there are 6 ads on the right side, then every slot gets on average 100 clicks daily. It&#8217;s now obvious that the more slots you occupy, the more clicks you harvest.</p>

<p>Under the above hypothesis, lets assume each and every ad gets 100 clicks per day. Google clicks cost minimum 5 cents, in the present case the cost for the advertisers may well be 50 cents and more per click. 100 clicks at 50 cents per click result in a daily advertising cost of $50. Multiply it with 365 to budget your yearly campaign and you end up at: $18,250 per year.</p>
<p>Logically and under the above assumptions, the value of each top 10 listing is the same as the cost of ads . Imagine now the value of 3 top 10 entries: 3 x $18,250 or a total of $54,750 per year.</p>
<p>Here comes the big two questions: <strong>can you afford advertising</strong> and harvest the full potential of Google&#8217;s traffic generation or does your budget run out after a fraction of total possible traffic has been delivered? Remember, it&#8217;s like the traffic generated from viral traffic programs: when you run out of credits, your marketing and your visibility come to a halt.</p>
<p>The second question: Working from Home,<strong> can you afford not to focus on Publishing? </strong></p>
<p>Max out on your marketing by multiplying the slots you occupy: if you buy one ads slot and then your site grabs another slot on the organic top 10 listing, then it is as if your marketing budget is cut in half, since you get over all double the number of clicks you pay for. Or the other way around: your marketing cost per click is half of what your competitors pay, provided they just work with Google Ads.</p>
<span id="The_Dilemma_for_Network_Marketers"><h3>The Dilemma for Network Marketers</h3></span>
<p>Competition on a keyword increases the price as marketers will have to place higher bids to grab the best advertising positions. On the above page there are 4 (out of 6) paid ads placed by independent distributors from the same Network. Individually they compete against each other before competing with the market and they drive individual cost per click up, giving them a clear disadvantage. The individual advertisers often do not dispose of sufficient means to pay for 24/7 visibility and therefore their personal results are not satisfactory.</p>
<p>From a Network&#8217;s point of view, the situation is different: for as long as there is 24/7 advertising paid by individual distributors, the network as such gets the exposure and the benefit of all those small advertising budgets at no cost to the network company (or the up line distributor).</p>
<p>The Dilemma of these individual distributors is in fact that they often dispose only of replicated web sites and other replicated advertising materials imposed by the Merchant or by the up line organization. These replications are totally Google inefficient on an individual level as Google will not list them. Distributors have thus no alternative than to participate in joint advertising campaigns. Drop-outs are the logic consequence and a logic consequence is also further recruiting for new distributors taking the place of the drop-outs.</p>
<p>There is only one viable solution to the problem: Individual Distributors must publish in a customized and search engine efficient way to maximize the impact of their advertising Dollars and efforts.</p>

<p>If you are involved with a Company where the search results can discourage your prospect customers or business associates, insist upon the merchant that the necessary efforts are made to build a clean online image. This may cost some money, but it&#8217;s the only way to give the business as such a chance online and to witness active support to the sales force, distributors, associates and consumers. Sponsoring People, sports Aces is a waste of moneys if on the Google search return the words scam and fraud appear on the top 10 or 20 listings. Such a business has not much of a future online.</p>
<p>You cannot afford to pay for the online image of a Company or Merchant, better change the business and work with serious, online image conscious partners with whom you are proud to associate your own image and reputation.</p>
<p>The question is not whether the highly visible scam or fraud mentions are justified, the question is, how do they impact on your business. Having said the above, we can deduct that online you have many entries, many places you go to and you communicate through; but in the end you have only one reputation to lose. The same is true for your business opportunity. Mixed reputation records are the best killer of a business online; would you buy from a seller with a positive feed-back record of 70% only on EBay?

Or, would you join a business where 3 out of the top 10 Google entries talk about spam, lawsuits or fraud? You probably would not even join if 90% only are flawless. Think about EBay's standards where over 98% of the feed backs need to be positive to keep Power Seller status.

How about if Google creates even a <strong>recommended search category</strong> for Scam under your business name, or if you are claiming to sell 'natural' food supplements and Google comes up with a recommended search for side effects or another doubt inspiring category 'does it work'?

Would you sign up with a company corresponding to the above profile? Seriously?

My point is not to judge Herbalife here or to take position about the quality of any products or business opportunities. My point is: the internet is one big town and you have only one reputation to preserve or to lose. If you are suffering from a mixed image, your reputation is harmed. Some companies and individuals do not attach enough importance to their image online and wonder why their popularity online is not what it appears to be in a closed vase environment offline.

<strong>Would you want to associate your name with a company or business opportunity which shows signs of hampered reputation on the most simple Google search returns?</strong> Can you afford to spend your time and money to fix the reputation of your Merchant and to convince your prospects and customers that what they see online 'is not true'; can you really afford it?

The real issue is that Your Reputation and the perceivable reputation of the Business you represent or are a distributor of will impact directly on your sales figures. Herbalife is probably not an online opportunity, otherwise they would take care of their online reputation. The strategy is: grab people online and drag them to  a low-tech one to one environment to close deals. The internet in any case would not help here as transparency becomes a stumbling block.

The way to sell is by selling yourself first. Don't count on anyone else. Your reputation sells and with your reputation you sell anything! A modern Working from Home enterprise has the absolute freedom to choose sell any product or service to sell: sales are linked to YOUR relationships and less on the reputation of the merchant or the product you sell. The power is on your side not on the merchant: I therefore cannot understand, how so called business opportunities where you have to pay for a license, can survive, if elsewhere the wind has turned long ago to a situation where you are paid to promote a company or their products instead of having to pay for doing so.

Working from Home is a brilliant idea. Be proud to belong to this industry; the sales power is with you and depends on the relationships you are able to build online or offline. The rest is secondary.

"Working from Home" and "Work from Home" are some of the very competitive areas where it is not easy to grab a top seat. However we will aim for top 10 positions with at least two of our sites.

Under Work from Home News we made it to rank 32 of 345,000,000! Not bad either for just one article.

<span id="Branding_a_Flash_Environment"><h3>Branding a Flash Environment</h3></span>
<p>Once branding elements are defined (color scheme, fonts, graphics, layout and eventually features), we need to be able to implement the brand in different environments. WordPress has been our primary playground, we have however been developing Flash websites earlier this year and we need to be able to brand those with the same creativity and precision as we customize WP.</p>
<p>Semiomantics Evolution has just been a first step and expanding the experience to Semiomantics Evo 2 is just a normal development.</p>
<span id="Ycademy_December_Seminar_Schedule"><h3>Ycademy December Seminar Schedule</h3></span>
<p>In order to give the seminar extended content we have decided to add to the original schedule the development of an Evo2 based website. Not that we didn&#8217;t have enough content to fill the day :-), we will just compress the content and add Evo2 by starting the seminar with a close to life workshop; here is how it works:</p>
<p>There are two groups of participants</p>
<ol>
<li>Participants who have followed our daily workshops since the launch of XO 2011</li>
<li>Participants who did not have the time to follow our daily exercises</li>
</ol>
<p><strong>The first hour of the Seminar</strong> will be a Workshop where we exercise collaboration between customer and designer, whereas each participant from Group 2 will work with 1 or 2 designers to finish off the work on the author blog and or as the case may be, on the Consultant blog.</p>
<p>Bianca will communicate the names of the mini teams later today, allowing you to anticipate by contacting each other and eventually exchange and or forward images, branding elements, access codes and so on.</p>
<p><strong>The second hour of the Seminar</strong> will be spent looking at and discussing the work accomplished. We will have a critical look at the work of the designers as well as at the &#8216;customer&#8217;s&#8217; behavior and we will judge the work in function of the following criteria:</p>
<ol>
<li>Most importantly: has the mission been accomplished in the set time frame</li>
<li>Functionality and usability of the site</li>
<li>Overall look and feel of the site</li>
<li>Content</li>
</ol>
<p><strong>The rest of the time will be allocated to Evo2.</strong></p>
<span id="The_Evo2_Project"><h3>The Evo2 Project</h3></span>
<p>Evo2 needs to be seen in the context of XO in as much as we aim for an integration of Flash with WordPress (and or the other way around) on the long run.</p>
<span id="The_schedule"><h4>The schedule</h4></span>
<ol>
<li>Understanding the structure of Evo2</li>
<li>Planing the site: which elements do you want to use and which style/branding do you want to apply?</li>
<li>Preparing the materials (Branding elements and content elements &#8211; namely images and eventually video)</li>
<li>Editing the Content (cropping or editing images and graphics and preparing text and other media)</li>
<li>Editing the XML files</li>
<li>Loading to server</li>
</ol>
<p>Finally we will enjoy looking at the various creations which round up our year with a real firework!</p>

<p>From the above you see that we have an extremely busy schedule and we will need to finish it within the given time. Team-work is therefore in demand &#8211; those who finish faster will help those who have slower lines; we will continue to work as teams like at the beginning of the Seminar. One of the main business aspects we exercise this way is to deliver in time!</p>
<span id="Pre-requisites"><h3>Pre-requisites</h3></span>
<p>Good mood, creativity, Photoshop where available and loads of good pictures (media).</p>
<p>We will load Evo2 to your Ycademy sandbox for the purpose of the seminar and work from there.</p>
<p>I will load a list of ideal file sizes for photos and media later today.</p>

<p>WordPress has become more complex over time and as well WordPress and Plugin designers squat their scripts with links and features which are not relevant to any vital or essential function. However, with every upgrade we need more resources from our servers to run all the processes which are run automatically in the background for the benefit of script users.</p>
<p>We also notice that some parts of WordPress and some plug-in scripts are using an unjustifiable amount of memory due to bad coding. Updates on WordPress often entail an update of plug-in scripts and plug in updates may create compatibility problems within the mix of scripts used on each site.</p>
<p>Some of the most delicate plugins concerned are Twitter Tools and All in one SEO Pack namely in relation with the Semiomantics specific configuration. Permalink structures, canonical link configuration as well as the bit.ly add on script have caused some of the issues we are facing.</p>
<span id="The_Solution"><h3>The Solution</h3></span>
<p>There are 3 ways to improve the situation and to plan for future expansion:</p>
<p>1. Semiomantics scripts can be improved to handle more data using less resources (coding)</p>
<p>2. We will need to tweak and hack some of the more delicate plugins and to use our own versions of these modified plugins. (coding)</p>
<p>3. We can increase the memory allowance to each site. (money)</p>
<span id="Test_Sites:_Zo_Nicholas_and_Larrie_Perkins"><h3>2 Test Sites: Zo Nicholas and Larrie Perkins</h3></span>
<p>We have restored Larrie Perkins and Zo Nicholas sites using a mix of the 3 above mentioned recipes. For the time being they run smoothly. We are working with the data center on reorganization of our servers as we want to allocate 128 MB of memory to all sites and foresee a potential increase to 256MB. You can do the Math: how many sites will we be able to host on 4GB RAM server units &#8230;</p>
<p>It boils down to a simple conclusion: new WordPress versions in connection with certain plug-ins require loads of memory which cannot be found on shared hosts. The problem has been observed elsewhere as well and it seems that some hosting companies recommend, not to go beyond WP 2.7.1 on their shared host as memory limits are likely to bring the sites down.</p>
<p>On dedicated hosts, the limit is the total of server memory, the available RAM and this will simply limit the number of sites we are able to host on each server. Increase of capacity can be achieved by clustering more server units, meaning, it&#8217;s a question of cost.</p>
<p>Providing YORGOO Press users with the best solution is our highest goal and we do not mind paying the price for it. For this reason, YORGOO Press sites hosted on YORGOO Press Servers remain a privilege for Ycademy Pros and Ycademy Seminar Participants.</p>
