Testing Visualization Features on XO 2011
How far can you push visual effects without messing up your code completely or without getting a low YSlow score?
I wanted to test excessive visualization on Semiomantics XO for WordPress.
Visual Features on Semiomantics XO
For the purpose of the exercise we have loaded a java based large image slider (980 x 278 pixels) in addition to the featured default slider. Then we have added a flash driven Cubing 3D slide show, slicing images up to 50 times. To round up the picture, we just added a YouTube clip.
Above the top of the page and below the next section just underneath the menu:
Surprise, surprise, the page opens and loads smoothly (a fast line is an advantage of course) and best of all:
YSlow returns an A 91 score in spite of the visual exuberance.
Conclusion
Properly configured and coded, Visual Elements hardly harm the performance of XO 2011 by Semiomantics.
Have a look at the test– site in action as for the time being all these features are still visible.

Yorgo, I got it, thanks.
Yorgo, by the time I opened the computer on Sat. night and received Bianca’s email with the link to the XO, it was down already. So I am waiting to hear how I can d/l the XO. Thank you.
Sorry Boruch — my paranoia to protect the download. Add an under-score before the “.rar” and it will work:
........./xxxxxx_.rar…maybe Zo’s note connected to the fact that no emails via Ycademy since yesterday… meaning 0 in webmail.
Peace :)
OK thanks — will look at it.
Please check SMTP email server on author blogs, seems to be a problem. Thank you.
Would be easier if you could detail the problem?
Mails sit in outbox in Outlook, says sending but it doesn’t go. Get an error message.
Try now please, it should be fine.
Bravo! Great score — you must be chuffed!
Interestingly, with slow lines the 50 slices show .…until the image is finally complete. Good school to understand how this process evolves for anyone wondering :)
XO is simply a great Theme!
