Ycademy WordPress Pre-Seminar Call

Tonight’s call will deal mainly with CSS or Style issues. Style has to do with lay­out, col­ors, graph­ics, typog­ra­phy, in short with the way we present our site and it’s con­tent. But before we enter the big chap­ter of the style we will coor­di­nate the con­fig­u­ra­tion of the new Semi­oman­tics XO Framework.

To start with we will review the Semi­oman­tics XO con­fig­u­ra­tion. Some basic deci­sions about the lay­out need to be made: How many side­bars do we need? How wide should the side­bars be?  Where should we place side­bars? How wide should our site be, 800 pix­els or rather 1024 pix­els? How about the header? Should we use graph­ics or text?

We will run with you through all the details and explain the pros and cons.

Yeah, that’s where the fun starts! We will guide you! Change the col­ors, embed your own graph­ics, select your pre­ferred fonts and much more.

Another exer­cise with GIMP will solid­ify what we have learned yes­ter­day. Tonight we will take GIMP a step fur­ther to test some fil­ters allow­ing to change the look and feel of an image. Again, a lot of fun!
