The Ceguna Social net­work goes live offi­cially on May 31, 2009.

Semi­oman­tics

Based on the most recent devel­op­ments on Word­Press and the release of Bud­dy­press, Joe cettina from New York has decided to develop his own net­work pow­ered by Semi­oman­tics. We are proud that Joe has cho­sen us to build his servers and site.

With the devel­op­ment of YORGOO Media, semi­oman­tics has acquired expe­ri­ence with Word­Press Multi-user sites as well as with Bud­dy­Press. The adap­ta­tion of Semi­oman­tics scripts to WPMU and Bud­dy­Press makes the result extremely pow­er­ful. We have pub­lished some of the amaz­ing results namely in as much as vis­i­bil­ity on Google is concerned.

Dur­ing the next days we will report on the work in progress and about the way we build Ceguna, from buy­ing the domain to deliv­er­ing the fin­ished instal­la­tion to Joe Cettina for release.

Search­ing for an appro­pri­ate name for the new net­work, we have launched a lit­tle brain­storm­ing con­test . Bianca Gubalke won with the idea: ceguna. Ceguna is the con­trac­tion of Cettina and Laguna. Joe’s main busi­ness is Laguna Ser­vices. A great idea and a great name: may it be the lucky one for reward­ing and long last­ing devel­op­ment and expansion.

Joe got the domain from the Domain Host at yor­GOdom, where he has full con­trol over his domain and where he can profit from … the best sup­port online yor­GO­help, man­aged by Zo Nicholas :-).

Ceguna is hosted on a VSM host on yorGObiz’s ded­i­cated clus­ter. This solu­tion allows for a flex­i­ble and scal­able solu­tion in func­tion of the actual needs of Ceguna. Info about yor­GO­biz prod­ucts: con­tact yor­GO­help.

To start we have loaded the lat­est ver­sion of WPMU tuned by Semi­oman­tics. The frame­work is con­fig­ured to work with sub-domains for each new blog and user. After test­ing basic func­tion­al­i­ties we have loaded Bud­dy­Press as well as the Bud­dy­Press basic member’s theme, ver­sion Semi­oman­tics as fea­tured on YORGOO Media.

For the time being we have not yet started with cus­tomiza­tion. We are load­ing a few themes to give the site quickly a pro­fes­sional look. All themes will be adapted and tuned by Semi­oman­tics. Vis­i­ble as I write the Semi­oman­tics ver­sion of Atahualpa 333, which is a nice start for the new network.

Ceguna’s basic con­fig­u­ra­tion is taken care of by Semi­oman­tics. As we inte­grate more func­tions we will adapt the fea­tures to the cus­tomized WPMU and Bud­dy­Press of ceguna. This whole process will take 10 days includ­ing test­ing and first per­for­mance records.

Dur­ing the next 24 hours we will test the func­tions and inte­gra­tion of Bud­dy­Press; we will also start look­ing for quick index­ing of Ceguna by Google.
