Nike Kicks at Global London
Our Sneaker, kicks and pumps project for Gobal Sports London is progressing and we are about to finalize the site. In connection with this commercial project, there are a few interesting questions arising which will impact on the further development of the site and its conversion rate.
1. Kicks, Sneakers or Pumps
Semantics are of the utmost importance on any commercial website, even more when we are talking about a trendy product with a primary target market in the age group between 12 and 32. Kicks are more than shoes or sportswear, they are a means of communication. What earlier would have described as a status symbol is today the expression of individuality, style, taste, it’s groovy!
2. Keywords: Nike Kicks, Nike Sneakers, Nike
What is true for the designation of the shoes is true for the whole language used on a web site: it is the goal to create empathy and to communicate with the targeted public choosing a vocabulary understood and used by a majority of potential prospects. The same applies for the choice of meta keywords: what good is it to use terms such as sports shoes and to be fundamentally right, if you are the last remaining dinosaur on the planed who cannot call a Kick a Kick?
The result would just be: you would be targeting other dinosaurs who have not the slightest understanding about the importance a kick can have in the brain of a rapper.
What would a typical Kick freak type into Google to find those Nike Kicks he is looking for so desperately? Probably not: sports shoes but rather Kicks or Sneakers or then just the brand and model, or part of the model description.
3. Nike Kicks AIR MAX 97 PLAYSTATION EDITION
Here you have a great example: what would people type in to find these Nike Playstation Kicks? Nike or Playstation Kicks? Or would they go for their preferred shop?
And if they went for their preferred shop, how would they call the shop? Global Sports US or Global Sports, or just Global? Would they add London to the name? Or the street name?
Target assessment is of paramount importance here.
4. Global, Global London, Global LDN, Global NYC, Global Sports London?
For shop owners it is important to know, how customers refer to the shop in order to tag the relevant keywords. Global Sports US is the domain name. I come across names such as Global Sports USA, Global Sports, Global, Global NYC, Global LDN or Global London and more. Branding the shop’s name is difficult with such an array of expressions. May be a customer query could give some conclusive ideas. besides the shop name, I would guess that the brand names in relation with the City could be an interesting hook as well as links to UK, Europe or USAÂ for what concerns Global NYC.
Important: Customers who don’t know the shops URL by heart must be able to find it on Google: I would type in Global Sports London for example; but would Global’s customers do the same?
More soon.
